Counselling

Counselling offers clear information about how to change if you want to. It offers straightforward guidance on how to make important changes, one step at a time and enables you to figure out how to stay on track. With proper counselling, you could make your whole life better.

What does counselling not offer?

Counselling doesn’t offer magical answers or miracle cures. It doesn’t provide instant fixes or clarity without your genuine participation. You will have to make a commitment to change as overnight success isn’t a realistic expectation to have.

How does a counsellor help with therapy?

The counsellor makes use of techniques of active listening, guidance, discussion, clarification, and the administration of tests. During the counselling process, the counsellor and client engage in an interpersonal process as they attempt to define, address, and resolve specific problems of the client on a one-to-one basis.

Who needs to go to therapy?

If you feel there are problems in your life that overwhelm you or you can’t manage all by yourself, you can check in with a therapist. Counselling can help by enabling clients to look more closely at their experiences and to clarify them. When this is achieved, ways of addressing difficulties can be devised by clients themselves, and strategies for change can be implemented. The non-judgmental and empathic presence of a trained helper facilitates the processes.

Why does one need counselling?

Therapy is a form of self care. Friends and family can’t always be there for you to serve as an outlet. Counselling offers you the necessary alternate perspectives you need when you are in a problem situation. It widens your perspective and helps you distance yourself from your problem.

When do you need counselling?

Do you blame others for holding you back or blame life for not giving you the best opportunity? Do you beat yourself up emotionally or abuse your body physically? Have you set yourself goals that you are discouraged to accomplish? Are you finding it hard to deal with things life is throwing at you? Are you struggling with addictive habits? Are you your own worst critic?

If your answer to three or more of these questions is a ‘yes’, counselling may well be of great help to you.
