MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS AWARENESS IN SRI SRI ACADEMY

School atmosphere is differently experienced by different individuals. As we are growing up, it is imperative that we are aware of our strengths and weaknesses while choosing the field we want to pursue. Therefore, a career counseling session is much of a help. The session gives a holistic approach from, intelligence, intellect, aptitude, personality and interest areas. It reiterates the fact that “no career is a wrong one”. Imagine how ease achieving dreams would be if we know our interests and strengths already. Also working on our weaknesses thus making us a more competent individual. It furthermore transforms as you grow in a position with evolution in responsibilities and tackling new situations. Career counseling in such arenas help in building capabilities and leaves no stone unturned in ensuring that with our independence in doing a task, each task for us becomes a relatively easier, thereby bringing satisfaction and contentment in our chosen profession.

A thorough career counseling session was conducted with students of the eminent school, Sri Sri Academy. The principal very enthusiastically assisted the Caring Minds counselors to conduct a session for parents to help them understand the importance of career counseling for their children and the process of the same. Following which the psychological tests were administered on the group of class VIII children and individual reports were generated. Possible career choices were mentioned with the intelligence level, interest areas, personality etc.

FLASHMOB: SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK

On the 15th of September, Caring Minds observed WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK.

A Flash Mob took the stage in a few of the eminent malls of the city such as Forum Mall, City Centre and South City International. Our congress was joined by Celebrities who graced us with their presence and participation in the awareness campaign. (Football star P.K Banerjee, Eminent Painter, Wasim Kapoor and Actor Chaiti Ghoshal) The purpose of this Flash Mob was to bring people together to prevent suicide and to convey the message that we care. One need not suffer in silence. There is help out there.

BASIC SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY AT TOLLY CLUB

On Saturday, 28th June Caring Minds conducted a workshop on basic Sports Psychology at The Tollygunge Club, under Protouch Sports, for children (golfers) between the ages of 7 and 15. We covered the important skills required to improve their performance in golf including having a good attitude, being motivated, having short term and long term goals, being focused, practicing mental imagery and inspiring them to give it their best ‘shot.’ The workshop was highly interactive and the modalities like games, worksheets, videos were used to reinforce the concepts covered.

BUSY ANTS TAMING TANTRUMS

Workshop on “Taming Tantrums” with Teachers of Busy Ants and Advanced Progressive Montessori

On 10th May, 2014 team Caring Minds got to host a highly interactive workshop with the enthusiastic and energetic teachers of Busy Ants and Advanced Progressive Montessori. The teachers of the two Montessori schools handle children between the age groups of 2.5 years to 6 years.

During the activity filled workshop the different reasons behind children’s tantrums were explored and strategies to handle them were discussed with behavioural examples from the real life examples of the participants.

SPORTS NUTRITION & SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY WORKSHOP AITA

Sports Nutrition

Sports nutrition is one of the most neglected spheres of nutrition studies. People assume that sports is all about fitness and as such nutrition studies. People assume that sports is all about fitness and as such nutrition may not have a very important role to play in it. However, the All India Tennis Association and Caring Minds have taken an initiative to correct this misconception. In a recent workshop conducted by the All India Tennis Association, tennis coaches from all over the country were educated about The role of Nutrition in Sports by Clinical Nutritionist Juhi Mimani. The key areas of focus were Hydration, Pre and Post Match meals and Supplements and their importance in helping sportsmen to enhance their stamina and performance.

Sports Psychology

On 13th September 2015, Caring Minds conducted a workshop on mental training for 200 tennis coaches as a part of the 8th National Coaches Workshop organized by the All India Tennis Association at Vedic Village. The workshop was facilitated by Life skill Trainer Joita Shah, assisted by Disha Mussadi. The participants were introduced to the concept of Sports Psychology with special focus on Mental Training and its scope in Mastering Winning Minds. The methodology used was interactive and activity centric.The objective of the workshop was to enable the participants to replace conservative coaching strategies with those that are more progressive and holistic in approach.

PANEL DISCUSSION: HERITAGE BUSINESS SCHOOL

On the 18th of February 2014, Caring Minds Founder Director Mrs. Minu Budhia was invited to be the Chief Guest at the Heritage Business School event ‘Women in Metro – Breaking the Glass Ceiling.’ Other eminent panelists present for the event were: elocutionist Bratati Bandopadhyay, Urmi Basu founder of New Light and designer Agnimitra Paul.

The event was a panel discussion for the students of the business school to help them appreciate the opinions of successful women in the city, women who have broken the glass ceiling and made it up the ladder of professional success. In her speech to the students Mrs. Budhia narrated the story of her life that has culminated in the creation of AddLife Caring Minds.

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA STATE POLICE ACADEMY STRESS MANAGEMENT

On the 28th of March 2014 Team Caring Minds went to Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy in Barrackpore to deliver a Stress Management workshop to two groups of 300 police cadets. The Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri Asit Pal met the group on arrival and discussed some of the stressors of police life with the team. The workshop was mainly activity-based and encouraged the cadets to mould their minds to battle stressors they could not otherwise banish. The workshops were highly interactive and were well-received.

GOOD TOUCH BAD TOUCH-SOUTH CITY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

On 28th July 2014 the ALCM Team headed to South City International School to conduct a workshop on ‘Good Touch Bad Touch’. There were about a 110 children all from Class I who attended. The workshop was highly interactive using games and worksheets for colouring to reinforce the concepts of good and bad touch for the participants. They were also shown a simple cartoon video in the end to cement the learning and explain to them what to do if they ever sense a bad touch. A handout was given to the children to take home to their parents.

STRESS & TEAM MANAGEMENT HYATT REGENCY KOLKATA

Workshops on Stress Management and Team Management with Mid – level Management personnel of Hyatt Regency, Kolkata

On 23rd and 24th August, 2014, the Caring Minds team conducted two highly interactive sessions with the energetic team of Hyatt Regency, Kolkata. Over the two sessions the various nuances of stress management strategies and team management were explored. The discussions and activities were interspersed with moments of humor brought out by the creativity of the participants.

WORKSHOP ON GOAL SETTING CALCUTTA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

On 29th August, 2014, Caring Minds conducted two sessions on SMART Goal Setting and Career Planning with students of classes IX and X. Through the interactive sessions and the activities, the participants worked towards giving their dreams a more concrete shape and coined their very own, unique SMART goal statements.
