Caring Minds conducted a workshop on SLD and ADHD Screening on 29th and 30th April,2017. The focus of the two-day workshop was to help participants identify and diagnose children with learning disorders and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder and how to discriminate it from other disorders.
A two-day workshop held on 2nd and 3rd April, 2017 on PASS ReadingEnhancement Program (PREP), Cognitive Enhancement Program (COGENT) and Math Module” developed by Dr. J.P. Das and conducted by Mrs. Pooja Jha Nair, a rehabilitation psychologist, PhD Scholar fromOsmania University and Master Trainer India for PREP, COGENT & Math module.
This was intended for practitioners and professionals whowish to bring an effective and sustainable change in the life of children with learningdifficulties. The program is based on the theory of PASS Model (Planning, Attention, Successiveand Simultaneous Processing) of intelligence modelled after Luria’s work.
PASS Reading Enhancement Program
The PASS Reading Enhancement Program (PREP) improves the information-processing
strategies, like attention and planning, that underlie reading, while avoiding the direct teaching of word-reading skills.
Cognitive Enhancement Training
Cognitive Enhancement Training is designed for the enhancement of cognition,
phonological awareness, and language of children aged 4 to 7 years with
normal and atypical developmental histories, limited exposure to literacy, mild
developmental delay, language impairment, at risk for developing dyslexia and other
learning difficulties.
Math Module
Modules for Math is designed for children belonging to kindergarten to grade II. The aim
is to further develop and expand children’s innate mathematical capacity such as
differentiation of size and number, use of working memory, and problem-solving.
Modern Parenting Seminar at Caring Minds was held on 25th March, 2017.
The workshop intended to explore parenting styles and emphasize the importance of empathy and sympathy in parenting.
Post workshop we were over-loaded with queries. Enthusiastic parents made the show extend further to last another extra hour. It was an overwhelming response.
Caring Minds organised an Intelligence test workshop on 22nd-23rd January, 2017. During the workshop the various ways of assessing the intelligence of children and adults was taught to participants. The methods of administration, scoring and interpretation of results were discussed in detail.
An interesting and informative one-day workshop on the Fairy Tale Test (FTT)was conducted by the creator of the test herself: Dr. Carina Coulacoglou on 25th January, 2017.
The Fairy Tale Test (FTT) is a projective personality test for children aged 6–12 years old. It is an innovative measure for children as its stimulus material consists of popular fairy tale protagonists known by most children worldwide. It allows the evaluation of personality as a whole as it assesses a large number of personality variables qualitatively and quantitatively. The FTT is published in twelve languages and has been standardized in many countries all over the world. It is currently under standardization in the USA and in seven countries in Latin America.
The day-long workshop covered the history and development of the FTT, administration of the test and analysis and interpretation.
This doctors meet was held at our Caring Minds on the 27th of August 2016 . This was a small gathering of Kolkata’s most renownedPsychiatrists. The doctors were introduced to our various facilities like the psychometric tests, career counselling , IQ tests , psychotherapy, biofeedback etc. Dr PranabDasgupta ,Dr.AshimChatterjee ,Dr.H.D.Adhikari , Dr. Sandip Chatterjee were all part of this event.
Mr. Sanjay Budhia director of the Patton group along with Minu Budhia and Preeyam Budhia were introduced to our doctors portraying how it is a complete centre dedicated to those who need a guiding hand down the road to mental wellness.
On a Tuesday in late November, Caring Minds played host to the Inner Circle group of ITC ladies. About 15 ladies visited the centre. They were given a tour of the facility, tried some tests in the activity room and sat down to hear Minu Budhia share her story and played a quiz and a game led by Preeyam. The feedback they gave was that Caring Minds is a ‘one of its kind’ facility in the city and they were very glad to have come and seen it for themselves.
The Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Shri Kesari Nath Tripathi has agreed to be our Chief Patron. This is a matter of pride for Team Caring Minds and we are truly humbled by his kind gesture.
On the 20th of November the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Shri Kesari Nath Tripathi, visited our centre. His visit began through showing him various facilities we offer at Caring Minds, and then he inaugurated MindSpeak, an open interactive forum for self-empowerment. He lit the lamp of wisdom, growth and progress along with Mr. Sanjay Budhia, MD of Patton International; Ms. Minu Budhia, Director and Founder of Caring Minds and Ms. Preeyam Budhia , Head of New Initiatives,Caring Minds and Vice President, Business Development, Patton International. The Governor shared his enriching insight about mental health issues and urged everyone present to be more compassionate. We also got to hear some lines of the beautiful poetry he writes! All and all, a very thought-provoking experience.
